Axial run-out
Using milling tools, in particular for smoothing with PKD- or CBN cutting edges, the axial run-out has an enormous meaning regarding tool life, surface quality and even surface. These multi-insert milling tools are measured on ZOLLER presetter and measuring machines in various ways, up to fully automatic, not only in the maximum dimension, but in the axial run-out at the same time. Beyond that the ZOLLER presetter and measuring machines provide the possibility to check and correct the run out at adjustable tools simultaneously. An axial run-out of 2 µ can be reached on adjustable milling heads without the slightest effort while using ZOLLER. It is not a rare result to increase the tool life up to 80 %.
