In order to output high quality workpieces not only high class machine tools, precise tools and latest measuring technology are important but also close attention to cleanliness. Where tools are concerned, attention has to be paid to the mounting shaft which has to be clean when placed in the presetter and measuring machine but also when set into the machine spindle. This is particularly true for "HSK" tools. Dirt particles or chip remnants influence concentricity and wobble during measuring or when placed into the machine tool and can actually destroy the tool shaft or the machine spindle. To ensure a long life and to maintain accuracy it is imperative to pay close attention to the shaft’s cleanliness. This also applies to the cutting tool edges when these are to be preset and measured. The ZOLLER vision system can detect lint and small dirt particles during measurement and can actually ignore these during measurement to a certain degree. Beyond a certain point, though, dirt, wear and tear cannot be ignored and will influence the measuring process. For this reason, ZOLLER supplies cleaning material for cutting tools edges. These materials greatly simplify cleaning and eliminate the danger inherent in using one’s fingers to clean a cutting tool edge.
