Computer coupling
One way to transfer tool data from a ZOLLER presetter and measuring machine to another system is the so-called computer coupling. A requirement for this is the ZOLLER tool presetter’s connection to the appropriate electronic equipment in form of a central computer system. This central computer administers all tool data, NC programs and work order specific data. The central computer is connected to all areas and equipment which are integrated into the applicable manufacturing process. Part of this is the programming system, work preparation and the production machine tools. If, in the course of work preparation or issuing a work order, a program is compiled it will be issued a number by the operator to be used on the ZOLLER presetter and measuring machines. By means of computer coupling, the operator of the presetter and measuring machine can then access this program. This is a way for the ZOLLER presetters and measuring machines to import nominal tool data for measuring and setting tools and the measured actual values are sent back to the control system. Final data transfer to the machine control or for integration in the applicable NC program is accomplished by the software of the control system.
